History

There is a saying that from small acorns great oaks grow. In some ways this has been the story of Good News Family Care.

For many years a small group of childminders had met together in each others homes, having a mother and toddler group meeting together; enabling them to show God's love and care in a practical way.

As this grew they really needed a larger place to meet and it made sense to ask the church. After much prayer and much work in upgrading the lower ground floor; as well as an inspection and interview by Derbyshire social services in March 1989 Good News Family Care were given their registration to open in June of that year.

Since then as a Ministry of Good News Church we have continued to place our priorities in sharing our Father God's great love and care to each other in a practical way. We have continued to develop and strengthen current practise in Early Years too. In June 1995 our "sister" nursery at Charis House in Buxton came into being, alongside a new Ministry in caring for families in crisis.
